Feeding As Speech Therapy
May 6, 2022 @ 6:00 pm UTC+0
In its simplest form, feeding therapy is when a trained occupational or speech therapist helps teach a child how to eat or eat better. Feeding therapy helps a child learn how to eat or how to eat more efficiently and effectively. It targets oral motor skills and expands a child’s diet to provide for more variety in fruits, vegetables, meats, and other nutritious foods. Feeding difficulties may present during any part of your child’s developmental stages of feeding. You may notice challenges with their oral motor skills (sucking, swallowing, chewing), nutrition, meal-time environment, interactions with food, or sensory processing.
